BY CAR

Because Edinburgh is located at the heart of the Scottish motorway network, it is quick and easy to get here by car. If you’re travelling from the north of Scotland Edinburgh is only 3 hours from Inverness and just over 2 hours from Aberdeen. Journey times from England are just as good; you can get here from Birmingham in about 5.5 hours, from Manchester and York in about 4 hours, and the city is just 2.5 hours from Newcastle upon Tyne.

Check the AA Route Planner for your journey:

http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp

From the North: A90 – M90

From the South: A1 – M1

From the West: M8 – M9

Closest car parks are Castle Terrace (behind the Usher Hall, Traverse and Lyceum Theatre) and on Morrison Street (only yards away from the rear of Filmhouse, next to the EICC and opposite the main Scottish Widows building)

BY BIKE

Bicycles: Closest bicycle racks are on Festival Square and at the corner of Semple/Morrison Street.
